Hi, my name is Chris Baker and I'm the coordinator of "I want a word". When I launched the project, I was 26 years old and living in Edinburgh (as you may be able to tell from the picture on the right), though I grew up in the small town of Paignton in Devon. One of my big ambitions in life is to be a successful author, which is what has given rise to this site.
While running the "I want a word" project, I've been carrying on with my dayjob, working as a scientist. When I launched the project, I'd just completed a PhD in chemistry, and have spent the last few years in the same area. I've changed jobs a couple of times, but my research interests have remained pretty much the same: developing new ways to use computers to help in the design of new drugs.
Away from work my main hobbies are travel, football, swimming and hiking. Below you can see a few pictures that I think do a reasonable job of illustrating my life. They are, from left to right: playing football in Oxford; licking a glacier on the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, and chilling out while dressed as popular teen rocker L'il Chris.
If you'd like to get in touch with me, feel free to drop me a line via any of the methods listed on the "Contact Me" page. If you're interested, you can also check out some of my previous writing on the "My Writing" page.
