In
May 2007, I launched "I want a word" as a unique
collaborative project with the aim of producing a single book using
contributions from as many as 10,000 different people. So how did it work? Well,
I used this website to try and recruit 10,000 people, each of whom would buy a single word, of their
own choice, at a cost of
£1 (about $2). Once all 10,000 words had been submitted, the idea was that I
would take the contributed words, along with a few of my own, and mould them
into a single, coherent story. The resulting book would then be made available,
as a free pdf download, on this site for everyone to read.
I never did collect all 10,000 words. I collected 65. But that didn't stop me from writing a book based around those 65 words. To find out more about me, my writing and the "I want a word" project, have a look around this site. And if you want to read the book, which is called "One from Many" you can download a free, pdf copy from www.lulu.com/christopherbaker
